Rockville, VA - April 25, 2008--The ANCOR Foundation has awarded TecAccess, a leader in accessible technology and workforce solutions, its prestigious 2008 Community Builder Award in the technology category.

With a record number of applicants, the selection committees faced the difficult decision of choosing recipients that best exemplified the spirit of the ANCOR Foundation´s Community Builder Award -- to seamlessly integrate people with disabilities into the fabric of everyday life.

ANCOR - the American Network of Community Options and Resources (www.ancor.org) - was founded in 1970 to provide national advocacy, resources, service and networking opportunities to providers and private supports and services.

One of the key components upon which nominees were judged - having replicable models of their programs -- clearly held true for this year´s recipient. TecAccess, the winner of the inaugural Community Builder Award in the technology category, is a leader of comprehensive, accessible technology programs, disability employment services and marketing solutions. Since its inception, TecAccess has committed itself to giving people with disabilities the skills they need to obtain accessible technology for work and leisure. The company´s hiring practices reflect this commitment, encompassing a substantial amount of employees who possess cognitive or physical disabilities themselves.

The organization has won numerous accolades from the national and international community, including being named the "Small Business Success of the Year" by Virginia Business Magazine, a business "Trailblazer" by Wells Fargo, one of "Greater Richmond´s Companies to Watch", "New Freedom Initiative Award" by the U.S. Department of Labor, and numerous other awards. An exemplary model in its own right, TecAccess presents a replicable model for others to consider.

TecAccess, and other award recipients, were honored with the Community Builder Award during the ANCOR Management Practices Conference and Trade Show on Monday, April 14th in New Orleans, LA. Debra Ruh, founder and president of TecAccess, also participated in a special break-out session in which organizations shared their award-winning practices.

Since 2004, the ANCOR Foundation Community Builder Award has helped the foundation support and promote its vision -- a world where people with disabilities live well-supported, meaningful lives in the communities of their choice.

"Together, let us work together to help make this vision a reality. Let us continue to work diligently to support people with disabilities to the best of our ability and let us listen and learn from those who have come before us so that we can promote community inclusion for those supported by organizations and entities throughout the country," said Bill Tapp, chairman of the ANCOR Foundation Board of Trustees.
